The Foundation for Private Security Examinations (SVPB) administers the exams for security subjects.
Admission requirements:
To start the Security Officer level 2 training, certain educational requirements apply. You can begin the program if you meet the following requirements:
- A vmbo diploma (preparatory secondary vocational education)
- Transfer certificate from havo/vwo (general secondary education) from the 3rd to the 4th year
- Entrance program (MBO level 1)
Additionally, it is important that you do not have a criminal record or judicial history. If you have been living in the Netherlands for less than 8 years, a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is also required. In the past 4 years, you must not have been fined for offenses, and in the past 8 years, you must not have been imprisoned for crimes. You should also not have had any issues with the police that raise doubts about your reliability. During the introductory interview, disclose all contacts with the police, including community service and similar activities. If you have had previous encounters with the justice system, it is highly likely that you will not be granted permission by the authorities to work or intern in the security industry.
Working in security:
After obtaining your diploma, you can work as a security officer. You can work for any security company and in various locations, ranging from shops and banks to events. You are also trained to protect individuals.

What will I earn after completing the Security Officer level 2 training?
At the start of your career, you can expect to earn an average gross monthly salary of around €1839. After 5 years of experience, you can anticipate an average gross monthly salary of around €2031. This amounts to a net amount of approximately €1784 per month. Converted to an hourly rate, this is approximately €11.74 gross. These figures are indicative and may vary depending on various factors, such as your personal development and the industry in which you work.
